Gloverall is a well renown brand from London and they have been producing duffel coats since it´s start in 1951. The story is that wholesellers H&F Morris, Harold & Freda where offered a large quantity of WWII duffel coats. This quickly sold and Harold son of a tailor got the idea to start producing duffel coats for their newly started company Gloverall.

Early versions of the jacket was used by fishermen and it is said that the toggles design was made to make it easy to button or unbutton the jacket while wearing gloves simply because it could be dangerous to remove ones gloves in extremely cold weather conditions. Wool was the fabric of choice for fishermen back in the days because it has the unique property to still keep you warm even when it is soaking wet. The Duffle coat was later adopted by the British Royal Navy and was part of the uniform during WW2. The name duffle is said to origin from Antwerp in Belgium that first became known for making the sturdy twill wool fabric used in this kind of coats.

This jacket is second hand and are in great condition. Worth mentioning is that two toggles are missing as seen in the pictures. These are easy to replace if you buy a pair of new toggles.

Johan is 173 cm tall and weighs 67 kilos.
