This jacket is made in Japan by Momotaro and it pays a tribute to vintage denim and the history of jeans jackets in a contemporary way that is intended to be useful in your everyday life.
The design is a hommage to the legendary 11MJZ jacket made by Wrangler back in the mid 50s. The 11MJZ was designed to be worn by cowboys and had lots of smart details designed to be handy when the wearer was sat in the saddle. One of the most iconic details was the so called action-back, the folded fabric at the shoulders that gives you freedom to move while still keeping the silhouette slim. The detail was also common on motorcycle jackets in the 40/50s where the idea is just the same. The pleated front (the fold that goes next to the zipper) is also a way to give the otherwise sturdy denim fabric some flexibility and the dots that keep the fold in place are built up by closely spaces stitches, a detail that has proven to stand the test of time compared to many other solutions, where more loosely spaced stitches come out after a decade or two and rivets rand to eat a hole in the fabric as the wearer moves through life.
The front of this jacket has a total number of four pockets where the users right pocket has a hole to store a pen. The Universal zipper on this jacket goes both ways, ensuring a longer life for the garment as one-way zippers tend to break at the bottom after a while.
On the left upper arm we also find the signature battle stripes! These white lines decorated the banner carried by the hero Momotaro when battling evil demons that threatened Japan according to the ancient folklore. Momotaro was also born in a giant Peach and that's the explanation behind the peach colored selvedge line and the peach colored thread that often will be found as a detail on garments made by Momotaro.
