Introduced during WWII the N-4 was an intermediate weight ‘field jacket’ that was the U.S. Navy’s counter-part to the U.S. Army’s M-41. Primarily it was designed for units that would be operating on shore, such as beach battalions and units like the famous 'Seabees', hence it’s army-like olive-drab shade of green for land camouflage.

The shell is made in a 100% cotton poplin weave and both the lining and pockets is made out of 100% wool, a detail found in many of the army garments from this period. The jacket is fastened with a talon zipper and a buttoned layer to go on top of the zipper. It's to protect the zipper from rust, a detail also found on the classic N1 deck jacket.

This jacket is vintage and has been used a lot but it is in great condition for it's age. The jacket has a USN stencil print on the chest but unfortunately the nack label is missing.

Johan is 173 cm long with a weigh of 67 kilos.
