These shorts was ones a full pair of original Levi's 505 jeans from 1967 that someone decided to make a pair of shorts of. The 505 model was made by Levi's back in the sixties as a sanforzized alternative to the 501 model. The jeans futures a zipper fly and a tapered fit that made it popular among the young people of that era.
On the cover of the Rolling Stones album Sticky Fingers from 1971 model Joe D'Allesandro was portrayed by Andy Warhol wearing a pair of 505 jeans. That also explains the real zipper that was part of the design of the early covers of the records.
These shorts are in great condition for its age, the patch is dry and what's left of it will most likely fall of if they are worn, the side seams of the shorts has been opened to make the fit wider and if one like it can easily be stitched back to it's original width.
