Sugar Cane & Co. 1955Z Model 14 oz One Wash Denim

Like many other brands, Sugar Cane started making their reproductions back in the late 80s when the vintage original jeans were becoming hard to find and the newly produced jeans of the time was nowhere near quality of jeans in the 50's. Today we are happy that these makers kept making jeans in traditional style and top quality denim. If you are looking for a pair of jeans that never will be out of style the 1955Z Sugar Cane is the perfect choice! 

This version is made of a Japanese pink-line 14 oz denim that has been washed once. You don't have to worry about shrinkage when you wash them for the first time and when worn for years they will look almost identical with a pair of vintage, well worn 1940's jeans.

The 1955Z Model from Sugar Cane is a tribute to the first Levi's 501 jeans with a zipper fly. Also known as the "501 Z", represents Levi's expansion into new territory. In the mid-1950's, Levi's started selling their trademark 501 Jeans on the East Coast. Up to this point, Western states had been their primary sales region since the jeans first came about in 1873, and there the garment had grown a loyal following. East Coasters, however, were largely unfamiliar with this button fly work pant. To make it more approachable for new wearers, Levi's introduced a new version.

They took the original 501, replaced the classic button fly with a zipper, and named it the "501 Z." It retained all the other details synonymous with a pair of Levis jeans. the famed fit, rivets, and tough denim.

Hemming is always included when you purchase a pair of jeans from us! Give us a comment during check out and we will shorten them before we send them. Keep in mind that you won't be able to return the jeans if we alter the length for you.

For hemming, we'll use a vintage Union Special chain stitch sewing machine, to match the original seam of the jeans.
