This is a vintage so-called squadron patch. A squadron is a unit within the armed forces and most American squadrons have names and designed logos and patches to be fastened on their apparel.
This claw and lightning patch was used by the Army Security Agency "ASA" and we estimate this one to have been used during the Vietnam war era.
