Tender’s railway mugs are hand thrown in England from natural red clay. They are left unslipped and unglazed on the base, to reveal the original character of the material.
The shape is adapted from vintage British Rail dining car mugs, which were particularly thick and heavy to avoid toppling or breaking. The thickness of the railway mug makes the grooved texture of the hand-thrown clay particularly prominent.
