Bryceland's was founded by Kenji Cheung and Ethan Newton in 2015 as an expression of the classic men's wardrobe.
Combining a basis of custom tailoring and men's haberdashery, they cast a classical eye for proportions and a desire to create elegance and masculinity on to every element of clothing, from workwear to the evening. With an approach to build wardrobes that will flatter the wearer at every occasion, creating timelessness without falling into costume, ruggedeness without sacrificing elegance, and an identifiable signature without relying on logos or brand imagery.
The Janet Jeans take inspiration from photos of strong and adventurous American women during the 1930s-40s, where jeans and boots were not just for men, but also for women. Women who were out on the ranch; female collegians in universities that adopted denim jeans as their unofficial class uniform.
Cut from 12oz left-hand twill, giving the denim a texture that is even and smooth. With a softer hand than the more commonly used right hand denim, it caresses the figure from waist to hip, and drapes through a wide and comfortable leg.
If someone has an interested in vintage jeans, one may know that Lee and Wrangler jeans from the 40/50s were known for using left-hand twill denim in their jeans. If you have been lucky enough to try a pair of jeans from that time, you also know that they are unbeatable when it comes to how comfortable the fabric is. We were particularly pleased to see that Bryceland's uses left hand fabric in their women's jeans as we believe this fabric is perfectly suited for this style.
Cut high and wide with a cinch at the centre back. These jeans will look just as elegant if you wear them with a tucked-in white t-shirt and sneakers or with a western shirt and your favorite boots.
The jeans are pre-washed so they wont shrink when worn. You can expect them to expand slightly when you wear them. Due to the nature of the fabric all these jeans have a strong leg-twist, just as the original vintage jeans back in the days.
Hemming is always included when you purchase a pair of jeans from us! Give us a comment during check out and we will shorten them before we send them. Keep in mind that you won't be able to return the jeans if we alter the length for you.
Lisa is 162 cm tall, weighs 57 kilos and wears size W28.
For hemming, we'll use a vintage Union Special chain stitch sewing machine, to match the original seam of the jeans.
