Super "Denim" is a new project launched by Sugar Cane and the well known Japanese vintage denim collector, Mr. Shigeki Wakita. Under his supervision, Sugar Cane has developed new fabrics, trims, and patterns based on the rare-to find dead stock vintage garments from Mr. Wakita's collection. The goal of the project was to produce perfect duplications of the historically, original vintage garments by faithfully replicating all details such as war-time iron buckles, imperfect sewing stitches, and rough and uneven stitch counts. Simply to recreate them exactly as they looked in the past.

Sloppy sewing is in itself is no art, but recreating the sloppiness in a correct way and doing it in a whole production is much more difficult, on the other hand, and we can't say anything other than that we are very impressed with how well Sugar Cane has managed to accomplish this on these garments.

For several decades, Japanese jeans makers have recreated American garments better than the originals, still paying tribute to the vibrancy that hides in old jeans garments. In this collection, Sugar Cane has gone all the way and shows us that when these jeans was made in the the middle of the last century you didn't care too much about perfection, it was after all workwear garments.

The 1945 Denim Waist Overalls is a complete duplication of Mr. Yakiya's vintage jeans made in the year 1945, Despite the model number having an "S" at the beginning, these waist overalls from around late 1945 have rivets on the coin pocket unlike other jeans from the same year. The buttons are made of iron with logo rather than the Laurel Leaf button seen on war time era Levi's jeans, and the rivets are plain iron rivets without logo. The original vintage pair as these are a reproduction of It is an extremely rare piece with an "A" stamped after the model number on the leather patch, only two pairs with an "A" have been confirmed in the world to this date. The fabric is 14oz denim with a rough, uneven texture, loomed to mimic the original down to the smallest detail. The grain of the fabric on the pockets and facings is irregular, and the stitching on the tip of the coin pocket is slightly undone, giving it the rough construction you expect from a "war time model."

Douglas is 180 cm tall, weighs 83 kilos and wears size W 32.

Hemming is always included when you purchase a pair of jeans from us! Give us a comment during check out and we will shorten them before we send them. Keep in mind that you won't be able to return the jeans if we alter the length for you. For hemming, we'll use a vintage Union Special chain stitch sewing machine, to match the original seam of the jeans.
