John Lofgren's M-43 Boots are inspired by the vintage M-43 so called Boondocker shoes. Rather than being a reproduction, they are updated to be comfortable and easy to wear for everyday life! They are built on the Munson last that was patented in 1912 by Edward Munson. Dr. Munson who had studied the feet of more than two thousand soldiers in order to create what he considered the optimal last for a pair of army boots. The upper leather is a rough out Horween Chromexcel, the Chicago tanner that also supplied the U. S. Army with leather for the original service shoes during WWII.
The Lofgren team is known to cherish the processes and craftsmanship of boot making that in most cases today unfortunately have fallen into oblivion in a world of mass production.
These boots are made from start to finish by experienced craftsmen in Japan with no expenses spared in the sourcing of materials. The uppers are made from the highest grade Horween Chromexcel natural rough out leather which is famous for it's beautiful aging properties and long lasting durability.
Thanks to their quality construction and durable soles these boots are suitable for everyday wear no matter the occasion for many years to come. They are comfortable out of the box and will only get more comfortable with wear as the insoles conform to your feet.
John Lofgren is famous for making sure that every step of the supply chain is being made under ethical working conditions, even down to the smallest nails and eyelets!
