Buzz Rickson's HBT Twill Work Shirt Olive BR29390

The Japanese brand Buzz Rickson's are today counted among the few high-end reproduction manufacturers of military and casual garments in the world! They strive to make true replicas by carefully researching and analyzing original vintage garments. Putting all there effort to duplicate the material while paying close attention to technique and quality with one goal, to bring back old forgotten techniques and machines needed to make garments of outstanding quality without compromises.

This is Buzz Rickson's version of a 1940s style HBT Twill Work Shirt, a garment designed to be durable, classic and functional in every detail. The texture of the HBT fabric also makes it slightly more interesting to look at than a regular green cotton twill shirt.

The fabric is a nice and sturdy cotton herringbone twill, a fabric that got it's name because the texture resembles the skeleton of a herring. This weaving technique is most commonly used in wool textiles and for more dressed up suits, but during the 40 and 50s it was also used in the military and and in workwear garments and that's were this shirts find it's inspiration. The cotton herringbone fabric was referred to as the "HBT twill". 

A detail that we really appreciate is the shape of the collar of this shirt. The slightly pointy edges are in our opinion the best shaped collar, and this style comes from a more dressed up and tailored fashion that was synonymous with the 30/40s. Nowadays it seems like most brands don't pay attention to this kind of small details, so we are always happy when we find someone who does! This level of  attention to the details makes this shirt one of our favorite garments in the store.

These shirts are are sized using their collar measurements rather than the "alpha sizing" (S, M, L etc) system. This is an older way of determining your correct shirt size from a time when a shirt was usually worn buttoned all the way up.

All measurements are in centimeters and measured on a flat surface. Width is measured straight across the chest from armpit to armpit, length is measured at the back of the garment from the neck down and the sleeve length is measured on the underarm from the armpit to the end of the cuff.
