This jacket is Buzz Rickson's version of the iconic U.S Army Herringbone jacket used in the 40s. The garment is intended to be worn as an over-shirt and the fit along with the two large pockets was designed to be functional and to make it easy to carry your necessities in the pockets.

The fabric
is a nice and sturdy cotton herringbone twill developed by Buzz Rickson's to be as close as the original vintage fabric as possible. It got it's name because the texture resembles the skeleton of a herring. This weaving technique is most commonly used in wool textiles and for more dressed up suits, but during the 40 and 50s it was also used in the military and and in workwear garments and that's were this jacket find it's inspiration. The cotton herringbone fabric was referred to as the "HBT twill". After some use and a few washes the character of the garment truly begins to show and the olive color pairs well with wardrobe classics such as sweatshirts, chambrays and faded jeans!

This version is a reproduction of the so called third pattern version of the shirt. With large vertical gusset pockets and roomy tube sleeves. The characteristic of the third pattern is that there is a metal button on the back of the collar for attaching a hood, and a gas flap has been added to the back of the placket as a protective layer to prevent toxic gases from entering. This detail also works perfectly to prevent cold winds from getting through.

Due to the addition of this gas flap, it is labelled "SPECIAL". In both the second and the third patterns, the front has the iconic black 13-star metal buttons, the distance between the first button and the second button is also wide.

This jacket was designed to be worn on top of other garments, with that it runs large in size. It looks great when worn over sized but if you prefer a slightly more slim silhouette you can size down. Please see the measurements below for more information.

Douglas is 180 cm tall, weighs 87 kilos and wears a size 36. He combines the jacket with a pair of well loved Indigofera Wyatt jeans, a custom made denim hat, a vintage 1950's flanell shirt and a pair of custom White's Dress Boots.
