Sugar Cane & Co is a Japanese brand focusing on reconstructing the early days of vintage workwear history. The brand has roots that goes back to the 1950's but it wasen't until the late 80's that Sugar Cane started building the reputation for being one of the best denim makers in Japan and it is a reputation they still deserve!

One thing we really admire about Sugar Cane is the effort they put behind their garments, doing their best to recreate functional clothing from the past. They don't change too much but rather preserve the garments style and feeling!

The Sugar Cane Dobby Check Short Sleeve Open Shirt finds it's inspiration in classic American leisure wear from the early middle of the last century. In that hopeful time after the second world war had ended and when outdoor activities became more and more popular, the shape as well as the function of the clothes became more focused on free time than work, which took its expression in playful, casual and comfortable clothes!

The fabric is a classic Dobby check. The name Dobby refers to the weaving technique that allows geometric patterns giving extra texture in the cloth.

The shirt has one chest pockets and mother of pearl buttons. The coloring as well as the boxy shape of the shirt are typical for the era it is inspired from and we can't think of a better way to spend summer then combining this shirt with a comfortable pair of jeans, chinos or shorts during the warm days!

All measurements are in centimeters and measured on a flat surface. Width is measured straight across the chest from armpit to armpit, length is measured at the back of the garment from the neck down and the sleeve length is measured on the underarm from the armpit to the end of the cuff.
