The history of the A-2 flight jacket runs back to the early 30's when it became the standard issued flight jacket used by the US Air Force. One of them main differences from its predecessor, the A-1 jacket, was the addition of a zipper instead of buttons. The jacket remained in service up until 1943 and it is perhaps one of the most iconic leather jackets ever made. Many of the civilian causal and leisure styled leather jackets that became popular after WWll got their inspiration from this style of jacket.
This jacket is second hand but it is in great condition. The only notable is a repair in the knitted waistband just beneath the pocket of the front of the jacket (see picture). The repair is nicely done and there is no risk that it will break more. The leather is in great condition, soft and pliable and wont need any treatment at the moment.
