This is a secondhand Buzz Rickson N1 Deck jacket. The classic N-1 deck jacket that was first issued in 1943 as the new protective jacket to be worn by the US Navy, designed to withstand the cold and harsh weather at sea. The jacket is made of a thick cotton grosgrain weave, also known as "Jungle cloth", and this fabric is known for it's durability and for keeping the wearer warm and dry in cold weather weather.

Furthermore, the jacket is also lined with alpaca fleece. Compared with the more commonly used wool fibers from sheep the alpaca fibre is warmer and more lightweight, and these two characteristics is the reason for the USN to use Alpaca as lining back in the 1940's.

The jacket is also made with two hand warmer pockets, a chinstrap if one need to fold up the
collar to worm the neck, a Talon brass zipper that is covered to prevent the wind from getting through and to protect the zipper from the damage that salt water can cause if the jacket is worn out on the sea. The hidden knitted part at the end of the cuffs is known as storm cuffs, and these will protect and add warmth to the wrists while also making sure that the cold winds doesn't enter through the end of the cuffs.

Buzz Rickson's has carefully reproduced this garment according to the original ones with all the wartime specifications. We would even say that this reproduction is even better than the originals when it comes to the construction and the stitching of the garment.

The jacket has been worn for a few seasons but is in great condition whiteout any visible damage.
