Sugar Cane is a Japanese brand focusing on reconstructing the early days of vintage workwear history. The brand has roots that goes back to the 1950's but it wasen't until the late 80's that Sugar Cane started building the reputation for being one of the best denim makers in Japan and it is a reputation they still deserve!
Here's Sugar Cane's version of a classic work vest. Inspired by work garments from the middle of the last century and combining functionality with the durability and sturdiness of a cotton covert fabric, this vest will be a great companion no matter if you spend you days in a fishing boat or attending weddings! It might not be the most dressed up vest but it could work fine if you feel more comfortable wearing a casual vest than a traditional tailored one.
The buttonhole in between the two top buttons is a detail found on vintage garments from the past. It was intended for fastening a watch chain for a watch that could be placed in safe storage in one of the pockets in a time before the wristwatches became common.
