Sugar Cane is a Japanese brand focusing on reconstructing the early days of vintage workwear history. The brand has roots that goes back to the 1950's but it wasen't until the late 80's that Sugar Cane started building the reputation for being one of the best denim makers in Japan and it is a well earned reputation they still deserve!
This is Sugar Cane's version of a 1950's/60's western snap button denim shirt. Western shirts back in the day were often seen in satin with big embroideries and fringes. The real, hard working cowboys needed something more rugged and durable and fabrics like denim, flannel and chambray were used instead. The snap buttons used are decorative but actually serves a very important purpose. If stuck, in for instance a bulls horns, snap buttons opens easily compared to regular sewn on buttons. A simple detail made to avoid accidents.
This shirt is made of a beautiful indigo dyed cotton fabric with a woven pattern in a mixture of stripes and arrows in white, blue and red. A textile associated with the beutiful fabrics woven by Native Americans. It makes one think of garments produced in the early 20th century with a texture that is hard to find these days.
Dan is 188 cm tall, weighs 82 kilos and wears a size L(16).
