Type 464 Webbing Fly Shirt
The three body panels for the Webbing Fly Shirt are assembled, with the sleeves, and then bias bound all round in one pass, starting and ending underneath the collar, which is added at the end. Instead of a standard buttoned placket, a wide strip of cotton herringbone webbing is sewn to the outside of the right front, and the inside of the left, with buttonholes sewn in place. These are also caught into the edge binding, forming a concealed button fly. Because bias binding can not be used to edge sharp corners, the front opening and sides are cut in smooth curves.
10oz Cross Weave Denim
Developed in various iterations over many years, Tender Cross Weave denims are woven in England on unbleached cotton warps. Denim is normally woven with an indigo warp and an ecru weft, but Cross Weave denim reverses this- the weft is Japanese rope-dyed indigo cotton yarn. To ensure a deep colour, extra picks (weft lines) are pushed in, resulting in more textural variation than a standard denim. The appearance of this original 10oz fabric was inspired by a pair of vintage British Rail worker’s uniform trousers, cut from a lightweight denim with a very distinct twill line. With wear the deep indigo from the weft yarn will lift and transfer onto the ecru warp, resulting in fades in the weft and reverse staining onto the warp.

All measurements are in centimeters and measured on a flat surface. Width is measured straight across the chest from armpit to armpit, length is measured at the back of the garment from the neck down and the sleeve length is measured on the underarm from the armpit to the end of the cuff.
