Tender is a one man brand based in England and the founder William Kroll continues to make beautiful clothes inspired by the history of durable workwear with a contemporary style.
What we like about the aesthetics of Tender is that the appearance may look simple at first, but William is always adding smart and interesting details to the garments, combined with interesting textiles that feel great to wear. As far as possible all products are produced in England, from the weaving of the fabrics to cutting and sewing.
The Floor shirt is an edited interpretation of a factory overshirt, with large hand pockets and wide sleeves. The stitching at the shoulders appears to make a traditional seamed split yoke, but in fact it shows how the front and back panels overlap, forming a double thickness at the shoulders without any additional seams. The large buttons are fastened with horizontal keyhole buttonholes.
The fabricis a 100% cotton so called bold indigo Weaver’s Blanket stripe.A weaver’s blanket is the name of a short test run of fabric, used to experiment with different techniques before committing to a full warp length. Tender’s weaver’s blanket stripe alternates stripes of left hand, right hand, and broken twills with sections of plain weave fabric. This version is woven on a solid warp of rope dyed indigo cotton yarn with contrasting bands of indigo cotton and undyed cotton weft.
The garment has been washed to prevent it from shrinkage and this also makes the indigo come to life! In some places it has already started to get some wear and fades from the washing process.
The thickness of the fabric combined with the timeless construction of the shirt will make it perfect to wear as a thinner jackets during the warmer season of the year and for the winter it will be a perfect layering garment to give you some extra heat!
