Tender’s Cotton Acetate Spectacles are hand made in England. The frames are cut from acetate derived from cotton pulp, and the front is shaped and cut from a single slab and carved by hand to fit around the nose and cheekbones.
These glasses are cut with an octagon frame from a piece of acetate that is molded in a color gradient that goes from a light brown to a darker shade, hence the name "Earl Grey". We don't think they are actually made using tea, even if that would be very cool! The chunky acetate, funky cut and the color all contrive to give the glasses a very vintage feel.
The hinges are deadstock 1940's swiss-made 7 chewier hinges and the quality of these are second to none. Compared to weaker ones with less chewier commonly used by other brands today that might break or deform after being used for a while, these hinges will stay steady after years of use. The earpieces have a signature drilled hole that holds a thick cotton neck cord when delivered. The neck cord is easy to untie if one prefer to wear the glasses without it.
