Tender is a one man brand based in England and the founder William Kroll continues to make beautiful clothes inspired by the history of durable workwear with a contemporary style.
What we appreciate when it comes to the aesthetics of Tender is that the appearance may look simple at first, but William is always adding smart and interesting details to the garments, combined with interesting textiles that feel great to wear. As far as possible all products are produced in England, from the weaving of the fabrics to cutting and sewing.
The Raglan Wallaby Shirt incorporates elements from various Tender designs: the body panels of the Butterfly Shirt, the pockets of the Wallaby Shirt, and the inverted raglan sleeve construction of the Zoetrope Coat. The large bar tacked pockets and raglan sleeves allow this to wear as a shirt-jacket, while the softly curved hem and gathered cuffs give it the flexibility of a shirt.
This garment is made and dyed in England using dye naturally extracted from Juglans Nigra, the black walnut. Obtaining a true black color before the advent of chemical dyes was extremely difficult. Husks of black walnut were used to create a deep brown often interpret as black in paintings and literature. The first recorded use is in ancient Rome, when walnut was used as a hair dye. An application which was rediscovered across mediaeval Europe. Later artist including Leonardo Da Vinci, Rembrandt and Van Dyke used drawing inks made from concentrated Walnut. It is a long-lasting color and as such has been used in Romani culture to stain the hands of criminals when the dye wore off the sentence had been served. As with all vegetable colors, walnut is less predictable than modern synthetic dyes, and any color transfer, inconsistency, irregularity or fading is a desirable characteristic.
Douglas is 180 cm long with a weigh of 84 kilos and wears a size 3.
