The L-2B Flight Jacket was issued in the US Airforce in 50s as a replacement of its predecessor, the blue L-2A. The jet-age was in full swing and as new types of air planes created new requirements for pilot performance, safety and comfort. The nylon jackets became the new standard and flight jackets made of leather became synonymous with the past.
This jacket could be worn reversed if the wearer would be in a situation were they needed to be visible and attract attention. The zipper has a pull on each side to make it easier to close no matter what side you are wearing facing out.
This is a vintage original produced in 1964 and the condition is just amazing considering the age of the jacket! It has an original Phantom patch on the chest. The Conmar zipper is original and in perfect condition. The wool cuffs and the waist band have some small holes, some have been repaired (see pictures for details) but apart from that we haven't seen any visible damages.

All measurements are in centimeters and measured on a flat surface. Widthis measured straight across the chest from armpit to armpit, length is measured at the back of the garment from the neck down and the sleeve length is measured from the top of shoulder of the arm to the end of the cuff. Across Shoulders is measured straight across from shoulder point to shoulder point.
