The M-51 Field Jacket was an improvement on the WW2 field jacket named M-43. One of the most obvious changes compared to its predecessor is that the pocket flaps have a more square shape where the M-43 had curved corners that most likely came form the 30s style of pocket flaps and collar shapes. The jacket is made in windproof cotton sateen cloth and features four pockets on the front and a drawstring waist. It remained in service until it was replaced by the iconic M-65 Field Jacket.
This jacket is vintage and has been used a lot, It is damaged to say the least but with a beautiful patina for those who truly appreciate a garment that shows its history. Unfortunately there are no tags left so we cannot date it exactly. The zipper has been removed, it has some holes and some buttons have been replaced and some are missing. There are also traces of where patches have been in in the form of a darker shades in the fabric.
The jacket has no size marking but we estimate it to be a Small Regular. Please see our measurements below to better get an estimate of the size.
