Vintage US Army M-1943 Field Jacket

This is a vintage original US Army M-43 Field Jacket. The jacket has seen decades of use and is well worn. In our opinion it has a perfect patina when it comes to vintage army jackets. The condition is over all good for its age without any visible holes in the fabric. The only notable is that the edges on the cuffs are frayed. The labels in the necks has fallen off and one of the front buttons hav split in half. It can easily be replaced and we have added a replacement button in the pocket (not original) but still a suitable replacement but we will leve it to the next owner to decide if the button should be replaced.  

The M-1943 Field Jacket was the successor to the M-41 jacket. Issued as the new standard field jacket for the US Army. Designed with a relatively loose and boxy fit intended to be worn as a layering garment to accommodate lots of diffrent environments and temperaturs.

The placket and pocket flap buttons are hidden, so even if you wear a backpack or other equipments on top of this, it will not get caught.

The material is durable cotton satin and the jacket is also lined with a thick cotton satin. The four large pockets on the front have enough capacity to store ones daily necessities.

The design of the collar was inherited from the M-41 jacket, if worn raised and closed using the chin strap it will prevent the cold winds from entering. 

In our opinion, the M-43 an is an exceptional example of a functional design that has stood the test of time. Only a few changes were made from this to it's successor models the M-51 and later the M-65 jacket.

A detail that we think is particularly nice on the M-43 jackets are the slightly curved shapes on the pocket flaps, which makes the jacket feel a little softer than subsequent models.

The jacket has no size indication since the label has fallen off but we estimate it to be a size 36 and it fits like an XS.

All measurements are in centimeters and measured on a flat surface. Width is measured straight across the chest from armpit to armpit, length is measured at the back of the garment from the neck down and the sleeve length is measured on the underarm from the armpit to the end of the cuff.
